The Eagles appear in on the Honey Badger.

The team held a virtual visit with free agent safety Tyrann Mathieu on Thursday, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, and has emerged as a prime location spot for the three-time All-Pro safety.

Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network adds the team would be interested at "the right price."

Adding Mathieu would allow the Eagles to focus on the corner position in the draft and add a safety in free agency.  The 29-year old would be a fine addition to Jonathan Gannon's defense next to Anthony Harris or Marcus Epps.

He is the play making safety the Eagles have been lacking, Mathieu made plenty of big plays for Kansas City last year, totaling three interceptions and six pass defenses, along with 76 tackles and a sack in 2021 for the Chiefs.

He is the kind of safety Gannon can use all over the field, at safety, nickel, and even dime linebacker if needed.

If the Eagles want Mathieu, they will have some competition.

According to Nick Underhill, who covers the Saints for neworleans.football, the Saints will have competition for Mathieu, acknowledging the the Eagles are interested in him as well.
