Two Eagles Starters At Practice After Sustaining Injuries, Three Listed As DNP
As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare for their second straight week playing on the road, there are several players we are keeping an eye on as we countdown to gameday versus the Buccaneers.
The good news for the Eagles this week is Mekhi Becton was participating in practice as the team was on the indoor field because of the weather on Wednesday. Becton left Sunday's game in New Orleans after sustaining a hand injury.
Becton told the media on Wednesday that he has a torn ligament in his left ring finger. The Eagles' Starting Right Guard is expected to play with a protective cast on his hand versus the Buccaneers this Sunday.
Head Coach Nick Sirianni told the media that Wednesday would be a Walk-Through and Thursday would be a traditional Practice, yet multiple players did not participate who are key starters for the Eagles this season.
What Eagles Players Did Not Practice On Wednesday?
Eagles Starting Right Tackle Lane Johnson was on the sidelines at Wednesday's Practice but did not participate. His presence is a good sign that he is progressing through the NFL Concussion Protocol. The All-Pro Tackle sustained a Concussion during the Eagles' win over the Saints.
Speaking of Concussions, Devonta Smith was not seen at Wednesday's Practice, raising speculation that he will not be cleared in time for Sunday's game in Tampa. Smith suffered a Concussion because of a late hit by a Saints player in the 4th Quarter of Sunday's game.
The other Eagles player listed as "Did Not Practice" was AJ Brown. The Eagles star Wide Receiver has been dealing with a Hamstring Injury and had said two weeks that he expected to miss a couple of games. After not practicing for a couple weeks, its hard to see him being ready to play this Sunday.
Remember Britain Covey was placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday, which means the Eagles will potentially be without three of their top four Wide Receivers this Sunday in Tampa.
Joining Becton at Wednesday's Walk Through Practice is Cornerback Darius Slay. Listed as a "Full Participant", Slay hurt his knee after being driven out of bounds by a Saints Offensive Lineman during the Eagles' win on Sunday.
The sixth player on the Eagles Injury Report on Wednesday was Starting Left Guard Landon Dickerson. Listed as a "Limited Participant" at the Walk-Through Practice, Dickerson is dealing with a Wrist Issue.
