Dave Weinberg’s Panthers-Eagles 2-Minute Drill
Eagles' best number: 1,623 (Saquon Barkley’s rushing yards for the season, a franchise record)
Eagles' worst number: 17 (league-worst first-quarter points scored this season)
View from my living room:
Cape May was absolutely packed over the weekend, due mainly to the annual West Cape May Christmas Parade held Saturday night and the Congress Hall tree lighting Friday.
Three stars
- Eagles linebacker Zack Baun (11 tackles, 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss).
- Panthers linebacker Josey Jewell (10 tackles. 1.5 sacks, 2 tackles for loss).
- Eagles running back Saquon Barkley (124 rushing yards).
Eagles’ best play
Quarterback Jalen Hurts set up the Eagles’ go-ahead touchdown by bolting up the middle for a 35-yard gain on a third-and-10 from the Carolina 44-yard line late in the third quarter.
Eagles’ worst play
Place-kicker Jake Elliott missed a 52-yard field goal wide right in the second quarter. He’s 0-for-5 from 50 yards and longer this season.
Turning point
The Eagles were clinging to a 22-16 lead late in the fourth quarter when Panthers quarterback Bryce Young heaved a from the Eagles’ 32-yard line toward wide-open receiver Xavier Legette. Legette initially seemed to catch the pass and roll across the goal line, but replays showed the ball had touched the ground during the play and it was ruled incomplete.
