Sixers add a pair of players on two-way deals
Kentucky forward Justin Edwards has reportedly agreed to a two-way contract shortly after the NBA Draft concluded on Thursday, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Edwards grew up in Philadelphia, attending Imhotep Institute Charter High School, and was a consensus five-star recruit and ranked as high as No. 3 overall in the recruiting rankings after averaging 17.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a senior.
A 6-foot-8, 203-pound forward, Edwards spent one season at Kentucky. He started 30 of 32 games in Lexington and averaged 8.8 points, and 3.4 rebounds in 21.9 minutes per game as a freshman.
He joined Camden stars Dejuan Wagner and Aaron Bradshaw at Kentucky, both of whom have transferred, and now Edwards is in the NBA with other Sixers.
Wagner is now at Arkansas, while Bradshaw left to join Ohio State.
The team also added David Jones from Memphis on a two-way deal.
He has spent time at DePaul, St. John's, and Memphis, scoring 21.8 points (6th NCAA), 7.6 rebounds, 2.2 steals, 1.8 assists, while connecting on 38.0% from three-point range in 32.3 minutes per game as a senior for other Tigers.
